Vassileios Kouremenos (1875-1957) was among the preeminent Greek architects of his era. Despite being a conscious artist, a hard-working professional, and professor at the National Technical University of Athens, his work remains largely unknown not only to the public at large, but also to experts.

This book outlines the fascinating life of the North Epirotan architect, from his birthplace —the village Vouliarates— to Paris where he studied and began his career, to Constantinople (1910-1915 and 1918-1919) and Adrianople (1920-1922), and to Athens (1915-1918, 1922-1957). The study also highlights the value of Kouremenos’ reformative architecture that harmonically conjoins modernization with the classicist tradition and the mentality of the land.
