John Travlos’ life and work are filmy connected to great moments of the Archaeology of Greece and to the research of the monuments of the Greek past.
On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of his death, the monography by the archaeologist Angeliki Kokkou presents the life course of John Travlos and his multi-faceted work of 50 years in various areas of archaeology and architecture. Although his name is first and foremost connected to Athens and Attika, Travlos’ researches and studies cover a wide spectrum of monuments of the Greek antiquity, as well as of the Byzantine and Modern era. In addition, he had greatly contributed to the restoration of ancient and Byzantine monuments, along with the preservation of historical buildings in Athens.
The texts, lavishly illustrated with pictures and drawings by Travlos, highlight Travlos’ immense contribution to the study and preservation of the monuments of Greece.
